Cabot Clear Solution is specially formulated with a unique blend of resin and oil to provide a superior natural finish for bare wood. This distinctive product not only sustains the natural beauty of exterior wood, it also provides excellent wood penetrating protection against the sun and all damaging weather elements. It's water-repellent, to keep moisture out and guard against wood warping and checking.
Easy to apply and requiring just one coat, Cabot Clear Solution slightly darkens wood when first applied leaving a flat and translucent amber-toned finish. The finish then slowly weathers with time to a natural wood hue depending upon the particular wood type on which it was applied. Cabot Clear Solution is for use on new or reconditioned wood only, including decks, cladding, shingles, shakes, trim and on log homes.
Cabot Clear Solution can be applied to all natural wood species such as cedar, fir, pine, spruce and redwood and will produce outstanding results on all premium grade timber. It can also be applied to pressure-treated wood.
Finish:
Dries to a flat, translucent-toned finish.
Maintenance:
Minimal because Cabot Clear Solution penetrates deeply into the wood grain. Depending upon exposure or wear, evaluate re-staining needs every 2-4 years (1 year for decks and other horizontal surfaces).
Colour:
Cabot Clear Solution is available in 'Natural' tone only. This is a sheer, nearly transparent finish that allows the wood grain and texture to show through. The final appearance of this product will be influenced by the porosity and colour variations of the wood's surface.
Coverage:
A 3.79 litre tin will cover approximately 37 - 56 square metres on smooth surfaces or 14 - 23 square metres on rough surfaces. These rates will vary depending upon the moisture content and porosity of the surface.
Number of Coats:
One coat is recommended. For additional protection or for added colour intensity, apply a second coat approximately 15 minutes after the first coat.
