Durawood® 'No. 2 Select Construction' Grade 140 x 140mm Posts

Our 140 x 140mm posts are produced from 'No. 2 Select Construction' grade Southern Yellow Pine. This grade is recommended for most general construction uses where moderately high design values are required. Allows well-spaced knots of any quality.

These posts are treated for 'in- ground' use and will last a minimum of 25 years. This is an incredible life expectancy for a fence post and is due to the fact that Southern Yellow Pine reacts exceptionally well to being pressure treated. The unique cellular structure of this species permits deep, uniform penetration of wood preservatives, unlike many other timbers that only allow limited penetration of the preservative. This makes treating the exposed ends of sawn timber unnecessary and gives the timber a long service life.

140 x 140mm posts are also shown below. The tops can be bevelled (as shown in this picture) by setting a mitre saw blade to 45° and making 4 cuts around the top of the post.
